
Celtics Assign Ray to Austin Toros

BOSTON, Feb. 20, 2007 - The Boston Celtics announced today that they have assigned rookie guard Allan Ray to their NBA Development League affiliate Austin Toros. Ray is the Celtics' first assignment to the D-League this season. The Toros have been designated the Celtics affiliate for the 2006-07 season.
Ray has appeared in 33 games for Boston, averaging 4.9 points and 1.1 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game at the time of the assignment. Signed as a free agent this season, he was ranked third among NBA rookies in three-point field goal percentage with a mark of .391. The 6'2" guard out of Villanova will be coached by former Boston Celtics point guard Dennis Johnson with Austin.
The 18th NBA player assigned to a D-League affiliate this season, Ray is the second player assigned to Austin. James White of the San Antonio Spurs was assigned earlier this season, but has since been recalled by the Spurs. Twenty-five (25) NBA teams have taken advantage of the system to assign 43 players to D-League affiliates since the start of the 2005-06 season.
