Manchester, NH- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, the New Hampshire Department of Education and the New Hampshire Business Education Association (NHBEA) are partnering for the inaugural Celebration of Education with the Fisher Cats at Merchantsauto.com Stadium on Tuesday, April 28. Educators will be part of a special ceremony before the Fisher Cats/New Britain Rock Cats 6:35pm game.

The 2009 New Hampshire Teacher of the Year will be presented with proclamations from New Hampshire Governor John Lynch and Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta, recognizing the achievements of educators across the state.

"We have a number of great community partners who have allowed us to create programs that honor exceptional students, recognizing them for their accomplishments in and out of the classroom," said Fisher Cats President/General Manager Rick Brenner. "Tomorrow night's Celebration of Education will give us the opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation for all the wonderful educators who inspire and motivate our children through their passion and dedication to teaching."

Invitations for teachers to participate were sent to every school in the state through a letter to principals from Commissioner of Education Lyonel Tracy.

"We are pleased with the partnership with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and their commitment to recognizing the work done by educators across the state," said Tracy.

The New Hampshire Department of Education and NHBEA are developing a public relations campaign that will feature New Hampshire notables in politics, entertainment, news, sports and business. The notables will be discussing how a teacher has made a difference in their lives. There will be spots on TV, radio and newspapers. Later in the spring, watch for the interviews from teachers across the state, answering the questions on why they teach and how a student inspired them to be better.
