CC Sabathia to Rehab with the Tampa Tarpons on Sunday

Tampa, Fla. - The New York Yankees have announced that LHP CC Sabathia is scheduled to make a rehabilitation start with the Tampa Tarpons on Sunday, April 7. The Tarpons will host the Lakeland Flying Tigers, with the first pitch slated for 1:00 p.m.

Sabathia, 38, underwent successful heart surgery during the offseason and, prior to spring training, announced that 2019 would mark his final Major League season.

A first-round pick by the Cleveland Indians in 1998, Sabathia is a six-time All-Star and the winner of the 2007 American League Cy Young Award. Sabathia joined the Yankees in 2009 and helped the club capture the World Series title that same year.

During his 18-year career, Sabathia has tallied 246 wins and 2,986 strikeouts.
