Carolina Mudcats News Release

Zebulon, NC --- CBS Evening News will be featuring the Carolina Mudcats during its national newscast this Wednesday night (May 3rd) beginning at 6:30 PM ET.

During the past few weeks, the CBS Evening News has been casing states across the country to depict how unique aspects of America have been affected by rising transportation costs. With each story, CBS is focusing on one aspect indigenous to each state, with minor league baseball as the emphasis for the state of North Carolina.

National correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi and her crew have been following the Mudcats since late last week in Sevierville, TN. The 2 1/2-minute feature on the Mudcats and their travel, will illustrate the impact of the record-high gas prices across America and how it affects one of North Carolina's most popular family pastimes.

CBS is deploying a video crew for Tuesday night's game at Five County Stadium to interview Mudcats owner Steve Bryant and fans for their reaction and how their lives, business and travel have been altered. On Wednesday night, Alfonsi, her crew along with the the CBS satellite truck will be at Five County Stadium to complete the package. Alfonsi will be concluding the piece with her stand-up - live - during the CBS Evening News.

The CBS Evening News with Bob Shieffer airs at 6:30 PM ET, while the Mudcats home game on Wednesday night begins with Mobile at 7:15 PM ET.
