Jackson, Tenn. - The Jacksonville Suns exploded for nine runs on 17 hits in the final game of the series at Pringles Park Monday night as they defeated the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx by the score of 9-3.

The Suns trailed at one point 3-1, but the flood gates opened in the fourth for Jacksonville as West Tenn starter Randy Wells left the game after three innings. Carmen Pignatiello came in relief and allowed five runs on nine hits over the next inning and two thirds.

Jacksonville added a run off of reliever Paul Schappert in the seventh inning and two more off of Carlos Jan in the ninth to finish their scoring.

Three Jacksonville hitters recorded three hits, including Justin Ruggiano, A.J. Zapp, and Matt Kemp, who was a single short of the cycle.

Kemp also extended his hitting streak to a Southern League 2006 high of 16 games while extending his on-base run to 19 games, also a season long in the Southern League.

Spike Lundberg pitched five innings in his start, improving to 3-1 with the win. Greg Miller pitched his longest outing of the year with three innings of solid relief, while Casey Hoorelbeke finished the game with a perfect ninth.

Pignatiello fell to 0-1 in the loss for West Tenn.
