Jacksonville takes series with Jaxx

Jackson, TN (May 1)- The Jacksonville Suns won the rubber game of the five game series against the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, defeating the Jaxx 9-3 before a paid crowd of just 750 fans at Pringles Park.

With Jacksonville trailing 3-1 entering the fourth inning, the Suns exploded for three runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning to make it a 6-3 game. All five runs were scored off of losing pitcher Carmen Pignatiello (0-1). Jacksonville tacked on three more runs over the final three innings to complete the scoring.

Spike Lundberg picked up the win for Jacksonville. Lundberg (3-1) pitched five innings, allowing three runs on eight hits.

Justin Ruggiano, A.J. Zapp and Matt Kemp had three hits each to pace the Suns seventeen hit attack. Kemp fell a single shy of hitting for the cycle as he extended his hitting streak to sixteen straight games and his on base streak to nineteen straight games.

Scott Moore had two hits and two RBI's while Carlos Rojas had two hits to lead the Diamond Jaxx nine hit attack.

The Diamond Jaxx ten game homestand continues tommorow night when the Huntsville Stars come to town in the first game of a five game series at 7:05 CDT. Lefty J.R. Mathes (2-2 5.40) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Righty Carlos Villanueva (2-2 5.26) will take the mound for Huntsville.
