Winston-Salem Dash News Release

SALEM, Va. - Jordan Canaverio and the Dash bullpen combined to blank the Red Sox on Thursday, as Winston-Salem defeated Salem 4-0 to secure a series victory at Haley Toyota Field.

Cavanerio (7-0), who had already beaten the Red Sox (21-13, 46-55) three times prior to Thursday, tossed five shutout innings and allowed two hits and one walk while striking out three. Winston-Salem (16-18, 54-44) is now 10-3 in Cavanerio's 13 starts with the Dash.

Making his Dash debut, former big leaguer Jacob Lindgren relieved Cavanerio and recorded two scoreless frames. The left-hander yielded three hits but he also struck out a batter over his two innings.

Andrew Perez, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Thursday, worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth, while Carolina League All-Star Will Kincanon recorded a perfect ninth to wrap up the win.

Winston-Salem jumped out to an early edge in the first. Zach Remillard walked against Enmanuel De Jesus (6-7) to begin the ballgame, and, with Mitch Roman batting, he took second on a wild pitch. On the play, a missed catch error from second baseman Korby Batesole allowed Remillard to get to third.

After Roman struck out, Steele Walker blooped a run-scoring single to center to put the Dash ahead 1-0. Two batters later, Carlos Perez smacked an RBI double to left to make it a 2-0 contest.

The Dash plated their final run against De Jesus in the seventh. JJ Muno doubled to start the frame, and Yrizarri followed with a single to put runners at the corners with nobody out. Then, Tate Blackman smacked a sacrifice fly to center to up Winston-Salem's lead to three.

In the eighth, Walker capped the Dash's scoring efforts with a solo shot to right against Rio Gomez. Thursday marked the Dash's sixth shutout win of the year.

The Dash now hit the road for a three-game set at Lynchburg starting on Friday. Right-hander Jonathan Stiever (3-3, 2.08 ERA) will take the hill for Winston-Salem in the series opener. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m., and fans can catch all of the action on wsdash.com/broadcast and the TuneIn Radio App.

Following a six-game road trip to Salem and Lynchburg, the Dash return to BB&T Ballpark for a six-game homestand from July 30-August 4 against the Lynchburg Hillcats and Carolina Mudcats.

The three-game set with Lynchburg begins with $2 tacos on Tuesday. Wednesday's contest will be the first-ever "Dash Duty Day". Meanwhile, the series finale will be a Lowes Foods Thirsty Thursday as well a Pups in the Park Night presented by Handy and Handy Orthodontics.

Following the three-game set with Lynchburg, the Dash host the Carolina Mudcats for three games to round out the homestand. Friday's series opener will be a Fireworks Friday. Saturday's contest will be the annual Energize the Ballpark Night, with a live concert following the game featuring Two-time Grammy-Award winning Gospel artist Jason Crabb.

The homestand finale on Sunday will be a Lowes Foods Family Sunday. Kids Run the Bases presented by New Balance Winston-Salem will follow each of the weekend's games. For tickets and more information, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
