Caughel Earns A.A. Pitcher of Week Honors

LINCOLN -- Lindsey Caughel was named by Pointstreak as the American Association's "Pitcher of the Week" Monday.
The 26-year old All Star from Orlando, Fla. pitched 17 innings over two Saltdogs victories, yielding just two runs on seven hits with two walks and 19 strikeouts.
Caughel leads the American Association with a 1.97 ERA and ranks second in strikeouts. He has a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 5.3 on the season with a 0.96 WHIP.
During his nine-strikeout performance Sunday against St. Paul, Caughel surpassed Brian Rodaway (2005) and has now racked up more strikeouts (116) in a single season than just two pitchers in franchise history.
Caughel was named, along with closer Evan Reed, as the 2016 Lincoln Saltdogs Pitcher of the Year Saturday at Haymarket Park, and continues to be the front runner for A.A. Pitcher of the Year honors.
The first-place 'Dogs open a four-game series at Sioux City Monday at 7:05 p.m. Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR FM 103.3/1240 AM.
