Cats win 6-1 in game two of the series

Joel Kirsten threw the complete game as the Fort Worth Cats downed the El Paso Diablos 6-1 from Cohen Stadium on Friday night.

The Fort Worth Cats hurried out of the gates. In the top of the first the Cats scored three runs on five singles. Chuck Carter, Kelly Gulledge, and Carlos Adolfo all had RBI's.

Robbie Wachman settled down after the first, not allowing any runs into the sixth. Wachman allowed five hits in that stretch.

Fort Worth blew the game wide open in the top of the sixth. Terrence Green picked up a one-out single to start things off. Jordan Foster plated Green with a double to deep left. Two batters later Carlos Adolfo drew a walk off of Robbie Wachman. Garvis Romero came into replace Wachman and allowed a two-out triple to Chuck Carter which set the score at 6-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

El Paso reached the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth. Logan Wood smacked a lead-off double to left field. Kory Drew then smoked a single into left, for his seventh RBI in three games, which cut the lead to 6-1.

Joel Kirsten (4-3) picks up his second complete game of the season, as he allowed just one run off of five hits with four strikeouts and no walks.

Robbie Wachman (3-3) takes the loss as he lasted five and two thirds allowing six earned runs off of 12 hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

Garvis Romero and Dallas Strankman combined for three a third scoreless innings of relief.

Kirsten has now thrown 25 innings against El Paso this year allowing just four earned runs with 14 hits and 11 K's.

The Diablos will play Fort Worth in the third game of the series on Saturday night at 7:05 PM from Cohen Stadium. All-star Greg Wiltshire will match up against Joel Kirsten. The game will be broadcast live at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
