'Cats split double header against Flyers

Edmonton,AB -The Edmonton Cracker-Cats extended their win streak to six games before losing the second game in the double-header tonight in Orange County.

The first game went as follows: Cracker-Cats 5 Orange County 1

Chris Cullen started the game for the 'Cats. He pitched a complete game, going seven innings strong.

His stats from the game were, 7.0 IP, 4 H, 3BB, 0ER, 1UNR, bringing his record to 3-0 on the season.

Cullen received some offensive support fairly early in the game, as the 'Cats rung up four runs in the top of the second. The Flyers only run came off of a error by the 'Cats catcher, John Pasieka in the first inning. Chris Van Rossum made two all-star catches in center field in the bottom of the seventh to secure the victory.

The second game: Orange County 6- Cracker-Cats 5

Newly acquired starting pitcher, Brandon Camadese opened the game for the 'Cats. He gave up runs in his first two innings, and was relieved by Kevin Altman in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Robert Cramer opened the game and went 6IP, 7H, 2K, 1BB, and 3ER.

Dangerous play in the top of the seventh as the Flyers outfielders, Mark Okano and David Bacani collided in left field, delaying the game as they brought emergency vehicles onto the field.

Orlando Miller doubled in the bottom of the seventh, and with runners on the corners, Dan Luyben hit a two RBI triple to draw the 'Cats within two runs. Nettles had three hits including a RBI single to make it 6-5 for the Flyers. Jose Morban hit a pop up to end the game, as the 'Cats lost 6-5.

The Cracker-Cats record for their second half of the season moves to 9-3.

The 'Cats return home Tuesday, August 5 2008, as they take on the Yuma Scorpions. First pitch is 7:05 pm.
