Moncton Wildcats News Release

Playoff Round 1 kicks off Friday & Saturday at the Avenir Centre! The Eastern Conference battle features the #3 Wildcats taking on the #6 Saguenéens.

The Wildcats didn't know their playoff opponent until the final day of the season - and when the dust settled it was a young Chicoutimi squad finishing 6th and drawing the Cats. Both teams come in 6-4 in their last 10 games.

The Wildcats boast the best powerplay in the entire league at 28.5%, but the Sags are 3rd at 26.4%. Penalty killing is similar as well, with Chicoutimi holding a slight edge - 80% vs 79.3%.

Moncton is led by top scorer Yoan Loshing, 20th in the Q, with 70 points (37G, 33A). Miles Müller sits 2nd on the team and has been the hottest Cat lately - 9 goals in his last 10 games. The Cats have 4 more players with over 50 points - Vincent Collard (28G, 29A), assist leader Preston Lounsbury (19G, 38A), Caleb Desnoyers (20G, 36A) & Julius Sumpf (21G, 34A). Flames prospect Etienne Morin added 49 points from the blue line.

The Sags feature 5 50-point getters, led by 17 year-old Maxim Massé's 75 points (36G, 39A) and Thomas Desruisseaux's 60 points (16G, 44A).

The regular season head-to-head battles saw the teams split their 2 games - Moncton taking the first game at home in December 8-2 while Chicoutimi won the most recent match in February 5-2 on their home ice.

There's also not much that separates the starting goaltenders. Moncton's Jacob Steinman has 25 wins to Delafontaine's 21 but the Sags keeper sports a 2.87 GAA to Steinman's 3.25. Save % is tight at .900 vs .901.

This #3 versus #6 looks close on paper so settling it on the ice should be exciting! Come out &support the Cats!
