Cats Rally Late But Mooseheads Take It in OT

The return match at Avenir Centre between the Wildcats and Mooseheads provided plenty of drama on Holiday Monday. Halifax got an overtime goal from Brady Schultz at 4:48 to prevail 5-4 before 6,650 fans.

Schultz had an outstanding afternoon compiling two goals and two assists. The Moose built up a 4-0 lead only to have the Wildcats launch a 4-goal comeback, fuled by Adam Fortier-Gendron (7th), Shawn Carrier (7th), Caleb Desnoyers (14th) and Thomas Auger, who tied the contest with his 17th of the season at 17:08 of the 3rd period to force overtime.

The Cats outshot the Moose 39-31, with Mathis Rousseau outduelling Jacob Steinman.

The Cats maintain 3rd place in the Eastern Conference at 30-17-4-3 after 54 games. The march to the playoffs resumes this week with the Cats in Bathurst Thursday night at 7pm to challenge the Titan. This coming weekend, Moncton plays a home-and-home against the Islanders, starting Saturday night at the Avenir Centre at 7pm, then Sunday at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown at 3pm.
