The Halifax Mooseheads scored 5 second period goals en route to a 7-1 victory over the Wildcats Saturday evening before 8.500 fans at Scotiabank Centre, tying the best of 7 Gilles-Courteau Trophy series at 1-1. The Cats won the opener 4-1 Friday night.
In Saturday's win, Josh Lawrence powered the Halifax offense with a pair of goals and added three assists. The Mooseheads scored three powerplay goals and added a shorthanded marker from Markus Vidicek. Trent Ballentyne had the lone Wildcats goal.
Halifax outshot Moncton 37-14.
With the road split in the first 2 games, the Cats return to Moncton holding the home ice advantage in the now Best-of-5 series. Games 3 and 4 go Wednesday and Thursday night at the Avenir Centre.
A fifth game moves back to Halifax Sunday, April 23 at 2pm.
