Fort Worth Cats News Release

All nine Fort Worth Cats batters either reached on base hits or scored within the first three innings of Sunday's 13-7 win over the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, TX. Second baseman Jon Dziomba was responsible for four of those hits, finishing 4-for-5 with a run scored and two runs batted in. Dziomba had two hits and two RBI in the first inning alone.

"Today was a Sunday show-and-go. I didn't event take BP and I was just trying to see the ball," Dziomba said.

Dziomba was one of five Fort Worth batters to knock in two runs and one of seven with multiple hits. Shortstop Shelby Ford had three hits, a single, double, and triple, and begged plate umpire Carl Blumberg to let him remain at the plate after a pitch from James Mays caught his pant leg in the eighth inning.

"If you get on base, you get on base. If you hit a homerun, you get the cycle. Either way you're helping your team," Ford said.

Second baseman CJ Beatty, whose infamous pink bat has caused his name to become quite popular, hit 2-for-5 in Sunday's game with two runs and two runs batted in.

"That pink bat is coming with me to the restroom, the bedroom, Walmart...if it breaks, I'm Band Aiding it up. I'm using that pink bat for the rest of the year," Beatty said.

Fort Worth inflicted most of the damage on WhiteWings starter Coleman Stephens (3-2) who allowed nine runs on 10 hits in his short 1 2/3 inning outing. The Cats beat up on reliever Erinzon Bautista for three more runs on four hits in 1 1/3 innings and Rio Grande would not get their pitching settled until James Mays came in and pitched the final five innings and only allowed one run on three hits.

Cats' starter Trevor Harden (2-4) picked up a much needed win on Sunday after throwing five innings and giving up five runs on six hits. Harden struck out and walked three batters. Fort Worth's bullpen allowed two runs on six hits in four innings of relief for Harden.

With the win, the Cats are tied for second with the WhiteWings in the United League standings and will try to gain a game up on Rio Grande Monday night at 7:05 p.m. at LaGrave Field.

"It's one team you can't take for granted," Dziomba said about the WhiteWings.

The Cats and WhiteWings both have a record of 20-16. They will meet again tomorrow with the first pitch slated for 7:05. Tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com or by phone at (817) 322-CATS.
