Moncton Wildcats News Release
The Moncton Wildcats revved up their offensive engine in the middle period and went on to a 5-1 win over the Drummondville Voltigeurs in front of 4073 at the Coliseum on Thursday night.
Drummonville, the second place team in the Q, took the lead at 11:16 of the first with Philippe Bergeron's goal.
The Cats started their scoring parade at 1:16 of the second with an unassisted goal by Ted Stephens. Moncton went up 2-1 when Stephens netted his second of the game on the power-play at 15:58. Marek Hrivik increased the margin to 3-1 at 18:57.
In the final frame, Andrew Roski added to the Wildcats scoring at 3:27 on a set up from David Savard and Daniel Pettersson. Stephens got his third point of the night when he fed a perfect pass to Matt Brown for the 5th Moncton goal.
New goal-tender Shane Owen made an impressive showing in the Moncton goal, holding the high powered Voltigeurs to just one goal on 27 shots. The Wildcats won on the shot clock, 28- 27. On the power play, Drummondville went 0 for 5 while Moncton was 1 for 7.
Stephens was award first star honors, Owen was star two and Bergeron of the Volts was the game's third star.
