Cats edge Explorers in 12, 3-2

Jordan Foster's game-winning double led the Cats to a 3-2 victory over Sioux City on Thursday night at LaGrave Field.

With the game knotted at two in the bottom of the 12th, reliever Sean Kramer retired the first two hitters before Kip Harkrider ignited a rally with a double to left. The next batter, Foster doubled off the wall in left, scoring Harkrider to give the Cats their 50th win of the season.

Kris Zacuto had given the Cats the lead in the seventh as he broke up a scoreless tie with a two-run homer to left.

The Explorers closed the lead to 2-1 in the eighth and tied the game in the ninth on a leadoff homer by Alex Llanos.

Dan Grybash (5-7) notched the win as he pitched a scoreless 12th inning in relief. Kramer (2-3) suffered the loss as he allowed a run on four hits in 1 2/3 innings.

Kevin Hull and Billy Keppinger, the two starting pitchers matched up well through the first six innings. Hull allowed no runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. Keppinger went eight and allowed two runs on five hits.

The series continues on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Cory Walters goes to the mound for the Cats in search of his 13th win. He will be opposed by Sioux Falls right-hander Nate Holguin.
