St. Joseph Blacksnakes News Release

LINCOLN, NE- St. Joe (21-18, 47-40) edged the Lincoln Saltdogs (27-13, 58-30) in a pitcher's duel, 2-1. Shingo Mitsumori was outstanding to lead the 'Snakes to their fifth straight victory.

The 'Snakes took the lead in the second when Wil Quintana launched his league-best 19th home run of the season, a solo shot over the left-center field fence for a 1-0 lead. The bottom of the 'Snakes lineup added to the lead in the fifth when Denver Kitch singled, took second on a throwing error and scored on Jimmy Mojica's single.

It was a needed insurance run because Brett Cooley hit his 11th home run of the season, a solo shot over the fence in right field. Lincoln threatened again in the eighth before Caleb Balbuena induced a double play and groundout to preserve the lead.

Mitsumori (3-4) made a spot start and went seven innings allowing just one run for the victory. Jamie Tricoglou pitched a perfect ninth for his 18th save.

The Blacksnakes remain a half-game out of the wild card with St. Paul knocking off Sioux Falls.
