
'Cats Drop Series Finale to Capitales

TROY, NY - After a 46-minute rain delay before the game, the Tri-City ValleyCats (16-20) fell 9-0 to the Québec Capitales (23-13) on Thursday at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
Québec opened the scoring in the fourth. Tyler Osik homered off Jhon Vargas. Jake MacKenzie then singled. Tommy Seidl lifted his second homer in as many days to put the Capitales ahead, 3-0.
Québec went yard again in the fifth. Justin Gideon hit a solo homer to put the Capitales on top, 4-0.
Vargas walked Francisco Hernandez in the sixth, who then swiped second. Tyler Blaum singled in a run to put Québec on top, 5-0.
Gideon homered again in the seventh to make it a 6-0 affair.
The Capitales struck again in the ninth. Jesmuel Valentin singled, and Gideon walked. Osik hit an RBI single, and Gideon went to third. MacKenzie picked up an RBI groundout. Jonathan Lacroix knocked in a run with a single to provide Québec with a 9-0 advantage.
Ryan Sandberg (3-0) earned the win. He threw seven scoreless innings, yielding one hit, one walk, and struck out seven. Yusniel Padron finished the game with two shutout frames.
Vargas (4-2) received the loss. He tossed 6.1 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, walking four, and striking out six on a season-high 115 pitches.
Tri-City hosts the Sussex County Miners for the first time this season on Friday, June 21 st. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
