Cats Drop a Close One To Remparts

The Moncton Wildcats dropped a close game to the Quebec Remparts in QMJHL action Friday night at the Moncton Coliseum. The Wildcats lost 2-1 to the Remparts in front of 5,354 fans.

The Remparts got on the board first with a goal by Micheal Tessier (9, assisted by former Wildcats center Karl Gagne half way through the first period. The scored stayed 1 - 0 in favour of Quebec until the third period when Wildcats forward Stephane Goulet (21) scored to tie up the game. The momentum was short lived as Quebec scored the game winner 1:24 later with a goal by Brandon Tidball (4).

Wildcats goaltender Corey Crawford (23-13-5) drew the loss, but saved 29 of 31 shots to earn the second star selection. Remparts netminder Maxime Joyal (22-15-4) stopped 36 of 37 shots for the win.

The Wildcats are back in action Saturday night (February 19) when they host the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles at 7pm. The night is sponsored by Kent Home Improvement in support of the Friends of the Moncton Hospital. There will also be an opportunity for fans to donate money in support of the Cyr family who lost their father and their home in a fire earlier this week.
