Moncton Wildcats News Release
Charles-Antoine Pilote scored twice in regulation time while Yoan Loshing also found the net. Thomas Auger and Brooklyn Kalmikov buried shootout markers.
Rimouski opened the scoring nearly 13 minutes into the game.
Loshing tied it with under thirty seconds left in the opening period, grabbing a loose puck off a scrambled faceoff in the left circle and whistling a wrist shot past the glove of Oceanic goalie Gabriel Robert.
The visitors regained the lead in the second period with two goals just over six minutes apart.
Rimouski led 3-1 after forty minutes.
The Wildcats killed off a long two-man advantage early in the third period which seemed to spark the team.
Pilote got Moncton within one goal with under five minute left, ripping a wrist shot from the left point that beat Robert on his blocker side.
Pilote's second of the game came with only 11.6 seconds remaining in the third period and with a sixth attacker on the ice. The second-year blueliner took a pass near the middle of the blueline and fired another wrist shot that got inside the right post to even the score.
Auger, the first shooter in the penalty shot contest, beat Robert with a wrister past his blocker. Kalmikov scored on a deke to his backhand. Both Rimouski shooters did not score.
Twenty-year-old goalie Jonathan Lemieux earned the win in his Wildcats debut with 41 saves and two more in the shootout.
