
Cats Clinch Third, Drakkar Sail in for Round 1

The Wildcats sent a season-high crowd of 7,400 fans home happy on Fan Appreciation Day, blasting the Cape Breton Eagles 9-2 at the Avenir Centre to complete the regular season.
The Cats locked up third place in the Eastern Conference and now open the QMJHL Playoffs at home Friday, March 31 at 7pm and Saturday, April 1 at 7pm against the 6th-place Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

Moncton was flying on Saturday with 50 shots and 4-point efforts by sharpshooters Yoan Loshing, Charles Beaudoin and Étienne Morin. Loshing scored three goals (31,32,33), Beaudoin had a pair (23,24) along with two assists, while Morin had 4 helpers. Other Wildcats scorers were Max Barbashev (32nd), Thomas Auger (12th), Gabe Smith (4th) and Alexis Daniel (14th).
The Eagles directed 18 shots at Jacob Steinman who notched his 21st victory.
The Cats finish the QMJHL regular season at 35-29-2-2 and roll into the Playoffs winning 8 of their last 11 games.
