Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

WILLIAMSPORT, PA- The ValleyCats pitching staff held the Crosscutters to just four hits, en route to a 4-0 shutout victory on Monday night at Bowman Field in Williamsport.

ValleyCats starting pitcher, Brandon McNitt was solid in his four innings of work, allowing just two hits while striking out four.

Kyle Weiland, who is on a rehab assignment with the 'Cats from Triple-A Oklahoma City, earned the victory for his one inning of work in the fifth. Weiland allowed one hit and struck out two.

Austin Chrismon and Jordan Mills combined to finish the final four innings of the ballgame, allowing only one more Crosscutter batter to reach base.

Offensively, the ValleyCats pounded out 11 hits, with all but two 'Cats batters collecting a hit in the ballgame. Second baseman Alex Hernandez went 3-for-4, and catcher Jamie Ritchie was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.

Ritchie, who has appeared in about half of the 'Cats games this season, is batting .444 in his 36 at-bats, with five doubles and six RBI.

Ryan Bottger collected the 'Cats only other extra base hit of the game, a double in the fifth off of Williamsport starter David Whitehead.

With the victory, the ValleyCats conclude a 4-2 road trip, and head home to begin a six game homestand, which features rematches of the 2013 New York-Penn League playoffs, against the Aberdeen IronBirds (July 16-18), and State College Spikes (July 19-21).
