Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Central Hockey League today announced Mudbugs goaltender Ken Carroll as the Sher-Wood CHL Goaltender of the Month for December. Bossier-Shreveport has now had the last two CHL goalies of the month, with John DeCaro winning the honor for November.

Carroll caught fire in the month of December for the Mudbugs, winning all five of his starts and surrendering just six goals in those five games. In addition to his 5-0 record, Carroll's December numbers include a 1.20 goals-against average and .964 saves percentage with one shutout.

Carroll started off the twelfth month with a 5-2 win over Oklahoma City on the fourth, but his biggest win came ten days later. On 12/14 against the visiting Colorado Eagles (the highest scoring team in the Northern Conference), Carroll matched his jersey number with 34 saves in a 3-0 Mudbugs victory. That shutout was the 23rd of Carroll's CHL career, breaking Rod Branch's record and making him the All-time leader in league history. Wins over Tulsa (3-1), Youngstown (4-2) and Texas (6-1) rounded out the month for Carroll.

For the season, Carroll has a record of 7-3-1 and is currently on a six-game winning streak. The 5-10, 175 pound Ontario native is tied with DeCaro for the best goals-against average in the CHL this year at 1.93 and ranks third in the league with a .931 saves percentage. Carroll ranks fifth in CHL history with 141 wins, has won two Most Outstanding Goaltender awards (2001 and 2006) and had a streak of four-consecutive All-star appearances snapped just this season. Carroll also helped lead the Mudbugs to the 2001 WPHL President's Cup Championship in his rookie season.
