Sher-Wood/CHL Goaltender of the Month Announced

The Central Hockey League announced today that Ken Carroll of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs has been named the Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month for the month of December/2007. Carroll will receive a custom leather jacket from Sher-Wood, the official stick, glove, pant and protective equipment supplier to the CHL to recognize his accomplishment.

Carroll's teammate John DeCaro won the award for the month of November for his perfect month and now with his 5-0-0 record Carroll will follow suit. The veteran netminder started five games in December allowing just six goals while winning them all. His goals against average for the month was a league-best 1.20 and his save percentage was a league-best .963. Carroll recorded his 23rd career shutout on December 14th setting the CHL's all-time record.

The 5-10, 175-pound goaltender has won six consecutive decisions and is 7-3-1 on the year. His 1.93 goals against average is tied for the best in the CHL and his .931 save percentage is third in the league. Carroll is in his seventh season with the Mudbugs posting a 142-60-16 record. The Mudbugs are tied for first place in the Northeast Division with a 18-7-3 record (39 points).

Other goaltenders receiving consideration for the monthly award for December include Amarillo's Dan Bauer, Arizona's Andrew Gallant, Colorado's Bryan Bridges and Marco Emond, Corpus Christi's Jason Tapp, Laredo's Kevin Beech, Odessa's Alexandre Vincent and Rocky Mountain's Scott Reid.
