Sher-Wood/CHL Player of the Month Announced

Published on January 2, 2008 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

The Central Hockey League announced today that David Nimmo of the Amarillo Gorillas has been named the Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Player of the Month for the month of December/2007. Nimmo will receive a custom leather jacket from Sher-Wood, the official stick, glove, pant and protective equipment supplier to the CHL to recognize his accomplishment.

Nimmo led the resurgent Gorillas in the month to a 7-5-1 record. The St. Albert, Alberta native had 10 goals with 10 assists during the month including three power play goals and a game winning goal. The rookie forward was named to the Southern Conference All-Star team last week and will play in the 2008 CHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, January 16th in Broomfield, Colorado. For the season, the former University of Alabama-Huntsville player leads the Gorillas with 18 goals, seven power play goals and 32 points. Nimmo has three two-goal games and nine multiple-point games this season.

The 6-2, 220-pound forward has helped the Gorillas get back into the playoff picture after a sluggish start. Currently Amarillo is five points behind Corpus Christi for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Southern Conference.

Other players receiving consideration for the monthly award for December include Arizona's Alex Leavitt, Bossier-Shreveport's Kevin Cooper, New Mexico's Konrad Reeder, Rocky Mountain's Tyler Butler, Tulsa's Jeff Christian and Warren McCutcheon and Youngstown's Petr Pohl and Joel Irving.
