The Springfield Cardinals scored the game's final eight runs, blowing past the Arkansas Travelers by a final score of 8-3 on Sunday afternoon at Hammons Field.
Allen Craig's ground-rule double brought home Brandon Yarbrough with the tie-breaking run in the fifth inning, as the Cards took the lead for good at 4-3. The win for the Cards keeps them in first place in the Texas League's North Division.
Right-hander Tyler Herron, called up from Palm Beach to start for PJ Walters, who was promoted to Triple-A Memphis, made his Double-A debut. Herron gave up a solo home run in the first to Hainley Statia and a two-run double to Ben Johnson in the third, as Arkansas grabbed a quick 3-0 lead.
The Cards rallied to tie the game in the third, as Mosebach gave up three runs. AJ Van Slyke, who reached with a bunt and eventually scored from third on a wild pitch. Yarbrough and Jose Martinez would each contribute a run-scoring single, evening the game at 3-3.
After Craig's two-out ground-rule double put the Cards up 4-3, Luke Gorsett followed with a two-run single to center, putting Springfield up by three at 6-3.
Tyler Greene homered and Jon Jay drove home a run in the sixth with an infield single, as Springfield capped the scoring at 8-3 in the sixth against Travs' reliever Bill Edwards. The home run for Greene is his fourth of the year.
