Palm Beach Cardinals News Release

JUPITER, FL- To the excitement of 2,800 fans attending Saturday's Star Wars Night at Roger Dean Stadium, Palm Beach rallied in the bottom of the 9th to take down the Jupiter Hammerheads 8-7.

Trailing 6-7, RF Stephen Piscotty ignited the late inning comeback, leading off the 9th with a hard-hit single up the middle. Jonathan Rodriguez followed with a single of his own to left field, moving Piscotty to 2nd. Next batter, Anthony Garcia proceeded to lay down a picture perfect sac-bunt, moving the runners up.

With one out and first base open, Jupiter's skipper Andy Haines decided to intentionally walk LF David Popkins (3-4, 2RBI, BB) to get to C Adam Ehrlich. Ehrlich who was 1-4 on the day, hit a high chopping ground ball to second. To the apprehension of the Hammerheads dugout, 2B Noah Perio misplayed the hop, sending the baseball rolling into center field as Piscotty and Rodriguez crossed the plate, providing the Cardinals with their 2nd home walk-off of the year.

Closer Ronnie Shaban received his first win of the season. Throwing a hitless top of the 9th while walking one.

Palm Beach hitters tagged the Hammerheads pitching staff for 15 hits tonight, four of which came courtesy of CF Nick Longmire. Longmire reached base in all five of his plate appearances (4-4, 2B, 2RBI, BB) raising his BA from .236 to .276.

Stephen Piscotty (2-5, 2R), Jonathan Rodriguez (3-5, 2B) and David Popkins all contributed with multi-hit nights.

The Cardinals will travel to Daytona tomorrow afternoon to take on the 10-12 Cubs at Jackie Robinson Park. First pitch scheduled for 5:35 p.m.
