
Cards drop second straight

This evening at Skylands Park in Augusta, New Jersey, the Cardinals lost their second straight game to the Auburn Doubledays (Toronto Blue Jays) 9-4. Auburns Erik Rico (1-1) picked up the win, as Dennis Dove (0-2) was saddled with the loss. Randy Dicken pitched 3 innings of relief to earn his 1st save of the season.
Jarrett Hoffpauir continued his hot hitting with a 3-run home run to deep left field in the 5th inning. It was Hoffpauirs 3rd home run of the season. Sean Dobson also contributed to the cause with 2 hits and a run scored. Steve Sherman also chipped in with an RBI single in the 2nd inning knocking in Casey Grimm. With 2 walks today, Grimm has successfully reached base in all 8 of the games he has played in this season. Jeremy Zick and Michael Sillman each worked a scoreless inning of relief for the Cards.
These two teams will close out their 3-game series on Monday evening at 7:15pm at Skylands Park. On Monday night, KFC and the New Jersey Herald will be sponsoring our Kids Eat Freepromotion. There will also be post-game batting practice, where fans will have the opportunity to hit a home run to win $100 and a new gas grill from Eastern Propane. The Cardinals will then travel to Williamsport and Brooklyn before returning home on Friday July 2nd, when they will face the Brooklyn Cyclones (New York Mets). The Daily Record and World Auto Group will be sponsoring a massive fireworks extravaganza!!!
