
Renegades win streak snapped

Fishkill, NY- The Hudson Valley Renegades lost last night to the Jamestown Jammers 7-2, in front of a crowd of 4, 601. The loss snapped the Renegades four game win streak.
Hudson Valley was in a hole early falling behind 3-0 in the first inning. Jammers second baseman, Steve Gendron, drove in the first run with a triple. First baseman, JT Restko, then drove in his New York-Penn League leading thirteenth RBI on a sacrifice fly. Designated hitter, Brian Cleveland, drove in the third run with a RBI single.
Two innings later, the Jammers struck again, with another Brian Cleveland RBI. Cleveland then scored two batters later on an error, making the score 5-0.
The Renegades, tried to mount a comeback in the fourth, scoring on left fielder Fernando Frias sacrifice fly, but that was the only Renegade to cross the plate until the 9th inning.
Jon Nickerson (W, 1-0) started the game for the Jammers pitching five innings, allowing three hits, one run, and striking out eight in the victory.
Matthew Cobb (L, 0-2) received the loss for the Renegades, pitching six innings while allowing ten hits and five runs, but only three were earned. Renegades designated hitter, Pat Cottrell, was 2-for-2 on the night with two walks and one run scored.
The Renegades and Jammers will play the rubber game of the three game series tomorrow at Dutchess Stadium. Scheduled to be on the mound for the Renegades is RHP Andrew Sonnanstine (0-1, 2.25) and RHP Allen Baxter (0-0, 4.00) for the Jammers. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:11 PM.
