New Jersey Cardinals News Release

This evening at Skylands Park in Augusta, New Jersey, the New Jersey Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) upended the Williamsport Crosscutters (Pittsburgh Pirates), 6-5 in the first game of a three game series. The Cardinals derailed Williamsport, who put together ten consecutive wins before tonights contest. The Cardinals are now 11-17 on the year, and the Crosscutters drop to 19-8. B. J. Jordan (3-0) was victorious for the Cardinals as Matt Bimeal fell to 0-1 with the loss. Roberto Batista with the save (4) ties the New Jersey Cardinals all-time record (17). He shares this mark with Derek Gooden (1998) and Santo Samora (2000).

The Cardinals countered the Cutters opening frame tally with two of their own. Daylon Monette drove in a two runs (Chris Tuttle and Jose Virgil) with a single. Chris Tuttle tripled in the fifth inning ahead of Melvin Falus RBI single. At the inspiration of the Rally Cow, Billy Schmitt crossed the dish on a wild pitch. Run number two in the sixth inning scored via Chris Tuttles RBI single. The Cards final run completed the output when Daylon Monette batted in Jose Virgil.

The Cardinals will take on the Crusscutters again at Skylands Park tomorrow evening at 7:15 PM. The Cardinals are giving out the third 10th anniversary prospect card to fans. Spiderman returns Thursday night to the Sky.
