
Cardinals Strike Out in Opener

JUPITER, FL- The Palm Beach Cardinals struck out a season-high twelve times, losing to the Fort Myers Miracle, 6-2, in the opener of a four-game series at Roger Dean Stadium.
Every Cardinals starter except Matt Dryer struck out at least once against Miracle pitching.
Miracle starter Anthony Swarzak (2-3) pitched a solid five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and striking out eight. He was followed by the stellar relief work of Tim Lahey and Ryan Callahan. The Cardinals managed only one hit over the final four innings.
Mark Michael (1-3) will have to wait another start for his second win of the year, after being knocked around for six runs on nine hits, during his 5 1/3 innings of work.
Fort Myers (21-16) put the game away in the sixth inning after holding a 3-2 lead going in. The Miracle collected five consecutive singles to start the inning and scored three runs before Cardinals reliever Troy Cate replaced Mark Michael.
The Palm Beach (19-17) offense collected five hits on the night and moved their record when out-hit to 8-13 on the year. The loss also extends the Cardinals longest home losing streak to four games.
