Cardinals Shut Out Midland 13-0

Springfield, MO - After completing the three game sweep of the Frisco RoughRiders, the Cardinals welcomed the Midland RockHounds to town for a three game set starting on Sunday.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd inning when Daryl Jones led off with a double and went to third on an Adron Chambers single. With one out, Aaron Luna was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Steven Hill then walked to force in the game's first run. Andrew Brown followed with a grand slam home run to clear the bases and give Springfield a 5-0 lead.
Springfield would add three more runs in the 5th inning as Adron Chambers and Aaron Luna walked before Steven Hill doubled to left to score Chambers making it 6-0. With runners at second and third, Andrew Brown grounded out to shortstop driving home Luna for his fifth RBI of the day. Charlie Cutler would follow with an RBI double scoring Hill bringing the score to 8-0.
Springfield plated two more runs in the 6th as Colt Sedbrook led off with a double and scored on Aaron Luna's RBI triple. With Luna at third with two outs, Andrew Brown stayed hot by singling into left to drive in his 6th RBI of the day making the score 10-0.
The Cards would add two more in the 7th as Adron Chambers collect a bases loaded RBI single and Aaron Luna reached on a fielder's choice knocking in another run to lead 12-0.
It was Andrew Brown's day Sunday and he continued in the 8th belting his second homer of the day, a solo shot, making the score 13-0. Brown's final line at the plate looked like this: 3-for-5, two home runs, two runs scored and seven RBI.
Cardinals' starter David Kopp was solid lasting five innings allowing no runs on six hits while striking out three to earn the win and Ryan Kulik pitched the final four innings allowing just one hit to earn his first save of the season.
Springfield will continue their three game series against the Midland RockHounds tomorrow evening at 7:10pm. The Cardinals will send right hander Shaun Garceau (0-2) to the mound against right hander Travis Banwart (2-0) of Midland.
