Palm Beach Cardinals News Release

SARASOTA, FL – Despite Cody Haerther and Terry Evans combining to go 7 for 7, the Cardinals were unable to keep up with the Sarasota Reds offensive attack and fell 10-2 on Wednesday night.

Haerther finished 3 for 3 with an RBI and stole two bases on the night. Evans continued his hot hitting by going 4 for 4 with a home run, his fifth of the season. Since May 9, Evans has seen his batting average rise from .181 to .252 after Wednesday's game.

Wayne Lundgren (1-2) took the loss in relief, allowing five runs (four earned) in three innings. Roberto Batista was also hit hard, giving up five runs (four earned) over two innings.

Reds' starter Bobby Basham earned the win. Basham (2-2) allowed just two runs in six innings pitched.

The Cardinals look to earn a split in the series on Thursday night. Starting Friday, the Cardinals return home and get a look at the Tampa Yankees for the first time this season.

The Cardinals begin a stretch of 14 consecutive games at Roger Dean Stadium, with 12 of those being home dates.
