WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Mighty Mussels built a 5-2 lead Thursday, but the Palm Beach Cardinals rallied for four runs in their final turn at bat to win 6-5 at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.

The Cardinals (58-50, 21-22) claimed both games of the doubleheader by 6-5 margins in games of 10 and seven innings, respectively.

Fort Myers (53-58, 19-26) built an early lead against Palm Beach starter Jose Davila with a trio of two-out hits. Rafael Cruz pulled a single to left in the first, before Dillon Tatum smoked an RBI double to the left field corner in the second. The next batter was Luke Keaschall, who singled to center to make it 3-0 Mussels.

After the Mussels failed to score with bases loaded and nobody out in the top of the fourth, Palm Beach took advantage in the bottom of the inning. Kade Kretzschmar doubled to right before the next two hitters walked. Dakota Harris then rolled a grounder to short. The Mussels got the force at second, but Yohander Martinez uncorked a wild throw to first that allowed two runs to score and make it 3-2.

In the top of the fifth, Danny De Andrade was hit by a pitch before Cruz singled him to third. The next batter was Kyle Schmidt, who drilled a two-run double to the wall in center to extend the lead to 5-2.

However, Palm Beach flipped the game upside down against Danny Moreno (1-2) in the bottom of the sixth. After Kretzschmar and Brayden Jobert both singled, Graysen Tarlow shot a two-bagger down the right field line to cut the deficit to 5-3. The next batter was Harris, who rolled a single through the right side to plate two and tie the game 5-5. Lizandro Espinoza then broke his bat and trickled a single through the left side to plate Harris and give Palm Beach a 6-5 lead.

The Mighty Mussels will look to even the series at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. RHP Miguelangel Boadas (0-2, 7.66) will start for Fort Myers, opposed by LHP Brycen Mautz (4-8, 3.59) of the Palm Beach Cardinals. Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. on the Mighty Mussels Baseball Network.
