Palm Beach Cardinals News Release

The Palm Beach Cardinals lost to the Jupiter Hammerheads 6-1 after Jupiter came from behind with a huge ninth inning.

Pitching for Palm Beach was stellar for most of the contest. Starter Brycen Mautz extended his scoreless inning streak to 20 while also striking out seven batters over five innings. The southpaw showed why he is the reigning Cardinals Minor League Pitcher of the Month with everything working for him, along with a couple nice snags defensively. Henry Gomez then pitched two scoreless innings. The righty struck out one and only allowed two baserunners. Ixan Henderson made his debut, tossing a scoreless inning. The southpaw got into a little trouble after striking out the first batter but left unscathed. Hunter Hayes had a rough outing, allowing six unearned runs in a blown save. The Californian made a costly error and the flood gates opened shortly after, resulting in a loss.

The offense struggled to get much going all game. Zach Levenson reached base three times with a hit and two walks. Leonardo Bernal walked twice for the second straight game. William Sullivan accounted for most of the offense, having three hits and the lone RBI, when he drove in Brayden Jobert.

The Cardinals and Hammerheads will meet again for the series finale on Sunday August 6th at 12:00 pm. The Cardinals have a chance to win the series, while the Hammerheads will look to even things up.
