LAKEWOOD, NJ - A two-run seventh inning put the Hickory Crawdads ahead and they held on despite a late charge by the Lakewood BlueClaws on Sunday night in a 3-2 win.

The Crawdads (20-15) got out to an early lead in the third inning off BlueClaws starter Justin De Fratus as they scored a run off a double and an error.

The BlueClaws (19-17) responded in the bottom of the fifth as TJ Warren walked to lead off the inning, was send around the bases to third before being batted home on an RBI-groundout off the bat of Troy Hanzawa.

The game was a matchup of two young and highly touted starters for both the Phillies and Texas Rangers organizations, De Fratus and Martin Perez. In the game, Perez went five innings and allowed one run while striking out nine and De Fratus went seven innings and allowed three runs, two earned. This is the third straight start that De Fratus went at least seven innings.

The Crawdads got to De Fratus (5-4) in the top of the seventh for two runs as they coaxed two walks, a fielders choice and a sacrifice fly past the tall righty from Ventura, CA to take a 3-1 lead.

The Crawdads would then hang on as the BlueClaws pushed a run across in the ninth, and with a runner on third, Cody Eppley struck out Anthony Gose to end the game Corey Ragsdale (1-0) pitched two innings and got the win, and Eppley got the save.

The loss gives the Crawdads a 2-1 series lead as the two teams will finish their four-game series on Monday night at 7:05. The BlueClaws will go with Jesus Sanchez (7-5), who has been tremendous in the second half and the Crawdads will counter with Neil Ramirez (3-2).

Before the game, the BlueClaws placed Harold Garcia on the seven-day DL with an injury to his hand.
