Montreal Alouettes News Release

Montreal - The Montreal Alouettes announced on Thursday that Université de Montréal Carabins' quarterback Jonathan Sénécal will take part in the upcoming training camp in Trois-Rivières in May.

In collaboration with the CFL, nine U SPORTS quarterbacks are set to hone their skills at training camps as part of the 2022 edition of the Canadian Quarterback Internship Program.

Sénécal (6'0'', 189 lbs.) had the best campaign in program history for a rookie in 2021. In six regular season games, he threw for an average 255 yards per game and nine touchdown passes. The Montreal native went on to lead his team to its first Dunsmore Cup win in its stadium. The former Collège André-Grasset Phénix star demonstrated extraordinary athletic ability, impressive poise, and a wealth of potential in his first year.

"I know Jonathan well and we've heard about him for a number of years now because of his success on the field," said Alouettes General Manager Danny Maciocia. "This camp will bring him great experience, as he will learn from the best all while showing his skills."

The program, which welcomed its first class in 2010, allows Canada's best young pivots to develop their skills and attend team and positional meetings, alongside their professional counterparts. The program returns for the first time since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Alouettes training camp will take place at the Stade Diablos on the Cégep de Trois-Rivières campus from May 15 to June 2.
