
Captains Win in West Virginia 4-2

Lake County Captains News Release
(Charleston, WV) - Ryan Miller notched his league leading sixth win as the Captains opened the series against the West Virginia Power with a 4-2 win. The Captains are 4-1 on the current road trip. They improved their lead in the Northern Division of the SAL to 2.5 games as Delmarva was defeated by Kannapolis.
The Power took a 1-0 lead in the first inning off of Captains starter Ryan Miller when Jonathan Lucroy hit a two out solo homerun. The Captains took the lead in the fourth inning off of starter Rob Bryson when with one out, Roman Pena doubled. He scored on an RBI single by Matt Brown, which was his team-leading 26th RBI. After a Chris Nash base hit moved Brown to third, Brown would score on a sacrifice fly by Jeff Hehr and the Captains led 2-1. The Captains added two runs in the seventh inning off of reliever Amaury Rivas on a bases loaded sacrifice fly by Ron Rivas and a double steal when Doug Pickens scored from third to make it 4-1.
Ryan Miller went six innings allowing only one run on three hits, walking three and striking out six. This was the sixth outing in which Miller has fanned at least five batters. John Gaub relieved Miller and pitched two scoreless innings striking out two. Vinnie Pestano came on in the ninth inning and picked up his tenth save in as many tries. His ten saves ties him for the league lead. Rob Bryson took the loss to go 0-2.
The Captains play game two of the four game series on Tuesday as they send RHP Santo Frias (1-1, 6.94) to the mound against the Power's RHP Roque Mercedes (1-1, 6.12). The game can be heard on AM 1330 WELW, WELW.COM or CAPTAINSBASEBALL.COM.
The Captains return home to Classic Park on Friday, May 16th to face the Lexington Legends. Friday is the second of twenty Fireworks Extravaganzas at Classic Park this season. All Friday and Saturday home games from here on out will be followed by fireworks.
