Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

Kannapolis dominated Delmarva on Monday night, blasting the Shorebirds 17-3. A three-run home run in the second by Ronnie Gaines put the Intimidators on top for the first time and they would not look back. They led 9-0 after three, 12-1 after six, and while the Shorebirds scored twice in the top of the eighth, the Intimidators added five more in the bottom of the inning to complete their 17-3 demolition of Delmarva.

Five defensive mistakes, three by second baseman Ryan Adams, plagued Delmarva early. All occurred in the first four innings. Offensively, the Shorebirds were stifled by Kannapolis' Levi Maxwell. Matt Angle reached base three times in three plate appearances and Adams blasted his second homer of the season, but the scoring highlights were too few and far between to contend with Kannapolis in game one.

The four-game series continues Tuesday night.
