Lexington Legends News Release
Home runs by Adam Abraham and Bo Greenwell backed up the pitching of Danny Salazar as the Lake County Captains beat the Lexington Legends 7-3 Friday night at Applebee's Park.
The Captains were leading 2-0 in the fourth when Abraham connected for a solo shot, his fourth home run of the year. They added two more in the seventh when Greenwell hit his first homer of the season with Mark Thompson on base, giving Lake County a 5-0 lead.
The Captains scored their final two runs in the top of the ninth. An error and three walks led to one run, and Nate Recknagel followed with a sacrifice fly to make the score 7-0.
The Legends got on the board in the bottom of the ninth. Chris Jackson led off with a single, Michael Diaz walked, and Brian Pellegrini hit his 15th home run of the year. The home run was Pellegrini's 36th as a Legend, adding to the team record he already holds.
Salazar (3-3) pitched seven innings and allowed only one hit, a first-inning single by Jackson. Kyle Greenwalt (7-10) took the loss. He pitched six and two-thirds innings and allowed six hits and four runs, three earned.
The four-game series concludes Saturday night. Game time at Applebee's Park is 7:05 p.m.
