Captain Dan Watson Returns To Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that defenseman Dan Watson has agreed to terms for the 2005-2006 season. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 6'2", 220-pound native of Glencoe, Ontario will be returning to his role as team captain, a position he held all of last season, as well as becoming a Player/Assistant Coach. Last year for Long Beach, in 69 games played, he scored 5 goals, 12 assists and had 114 penalty minutes. Prior to playing for the Ice Dogs, Watson played in 193 AHL games for Syracuse, Cleveland, and Providence. He also played in 23 games for the Columbus Stars of the UHL under current Ice Dogs Head Coach, Malcolm Cameron.

"I'm ecstatic about having Dan back for his third year with me", said Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Malcolm Cameron. "He's a fierce competitor, quality person and great captain. Dan is looking at becoming a coach when is playing career is over, and this is a great opportunity to work with someone like him and have an extra set of eyes. This is an exciting time for our organization."

"I'm excited to come back and build on what we accomplished last year", said Watson. "I'm also excited about the coaching possibility. It's what I want to do when my playing days are over."
