'Caps Streak Ends, End of Trip in Sight

The West Michigan Whitecaps four-game winning streak came to an end on Monday night. The Quad City River Bandits scored three runs in their final two innings at the plate and defeated the Whitecaps, 9-6, in Iowa. The Whitecaps, who have still had an excellent road trip with eight wins against just three losses, will conclude their longest trip of the season on Tuesday night in Iowa.

The 'Caps got off to a good start when Scott Moore blasted a 2-run homer in the first inning. The Bandits then scored one in the first and four in the second for a 5-2 lead.

Victor Mendez's two-run single in the third helped the 'Caps rally for three in the third to tie the score. With the score tied 6-6 in the seventh, the Bandits produced four straight singles for two runs and went on to capture their first game of the series after two West Michigan wins.

'Caps shortstop Juan Gonzalez singled in the first to extend his hitting streak to 16 games - the third longest streak in Whitecaps history.

The 'Caps will now conclude their successful trip against the River Bandits on Tuesday evening at 8:00 Michigan time. Following Tuesday's game, the 'Caps will get a day off on Wednesday before coming home for an eight-game homestand starting Thursday morning (11 AM) at Fifth Third Ballpark.
