March 31, 2022 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Madison Capitols News Release
The Madison Capitols (26-26-2) are set to take on the Chicago Steel (33-12-7-1) for their final two meetings between each other for the regular season, this weekend in a home-and-home series.
The Caps can earn a season split with a sweep over the Steel this weekend. The season series currently sits at 5-3 in favor of Chicago. Friday night's tilt will be on the road at Fox Valley Ice Arena while the weekend will wrap up at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena.
The Capitols are coming off of playing just one game last weekend against the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Chicago enters the weekend after a Friday/Sunday sweep of Youngstown and Dubuque.
You can expect a tight battle between these two Eastern Conference rivals. Of the eight games they have played this season, five of them have been decided by two goals or less with one of those meetings needing overtime to determine a winner. Madison and Chicago are neck-and-neck when it comes to scoring. The Capitols have scored 205 goals on the season and Chicago has netted 210.
Both teams house top five power play units in the USHL. Chicago tops the league operating at 27.0 percent and the Caps own the fifth ranked PP unit at 22.5 percent.
The Capitols are charged and ready for the two 7:05 p.m. puck drops on Friday and Saturday.
