Madison Capitols News Release
In front of a sell out crowd on Friday night, the Capitols looked to find their way into the win column to start the weekend off on the right foot. Although the visitor sat in third place at the time of their arrival, Madison had beaten Youngstown four out of the six meetings this season.
Youngstown jumped out in front early with a goal less than two-minutes into period number one. A second would be added before Madison responded with a goal of their own following the team's second power play of the first period. Ethan Elias tallied goal number five on the season for himself on the goal, which brought Madison back within one at the break.
The goal for Madison had another milestone be broken for Madison. With the primary assist on the goal, Will Felicio became the highest scoring first year tendered defenseman in USHL history with his 24th point of the season. Felicio is one point back from the record for points from a defenseman in his 16-year old year, which was set by Owen Power during the 2018-19 season with the Chicago Steel.
The second period didn't have much action on the Capitols end of the ice. Sadly for Madison, the other end saw three goals find their way into the back of the net in the game's middle frame. Youngstown took a 5-1 lead into intermission number two.
In the third, the visitors would add another goal late in the period and leave with a 6-1 final score. Madison falls to 12-37-2-1 on the season with ten games to go in the season. The Capitols have a chance to improve upon that tomorrow night as the Caps host their annual Wiener Dog Races at intermission. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm with tickets available at tickets.madcapshockey.com.
