October 16, 2015 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Madison Capitols News Release

Plymouth, MI - The Madison Capitols (2-2-0) will look to build off a 10-goal, four-point weekend as they visit the U.S. National Team Development Program (3-1-0) at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich. It will wrap up a six game start to the season that features five road contests.

The Capitols have put together a potent offensive attack through four games with 16 goals, including outputs of 4, 5, and 6 in that span. Additionally, head coach Troy G. Ward's club has recorded the game's opening goal in each of the four games thus far.

The Capitols picked up their first two wins of the season in the span of just over 24 hours last weekend, including a 6-4 win in the home opener against the Green Bay Gamblers and a 4-0 defeat of the Muskegon Lumberjacks at the L.C. Walker Arena. Haralds Egle and Tyson McLellan led the way offensively, recording a goal and an assist in each game.

Ryan Lohin also carried over his three-game point streak into a fourth straight contest with a goal and assist in Muskegon. The Chadds Ford, Pa. native leads the Capitols with six points in the team's first four games. In all, five different Capitols have registered over a point in game through the season's first three weeks.

At the back end, Garrett Metcalf and Ryan Edquist each accumulated their first victory of the season. Metcalf had a relatively quiet evening, as the Capitols defense limited the Gamblers to 27 shots in the home opening victory, while Edquist was tested to the tune of 40 shots in picking up a shutout for his first USHL win.

Edquist, just 17 years old and coming off a state high school hockey championship for Lakeville North in Minnesota, was rewarded for his efforts with the USHL CCM Goaltender of the Week accolade, the fourth time a Capitol goaltender achieved the feat.

The Capitols are familiar with their opposition, as the NTDP's U17 squad knocked off the Capitols 5-4 in a shootout during the Subway Shootout on Sept. 13. Team USA goaltender Adam Scheel was impressive for the Americans, turning aside 52 Capitols shots. Scheel picked up the U17's first victory on Oct. 3 in Muskegon, stopping 56 Lumberjack shots in a 6-3 win.

Madison returns to the Alliant Energy Center on Oct. 23 for a three-game weekend set against the Chicago Steel & Bloomington Thunder. Friday, Oct. 23 against Chicago is the first WJJO $1 Beer Night featuring a new beer garden location. The Capitols host Bloomington on Saturday, Oct. 24 for Craft Beer Night, and on Sunday, Chicago returns for Pucks N' Paws presented by Animart, where dogs will be permitted entrance into the Alliant Energy Center.

Tickets for each game are available by calling (608) 257-CAPS or visiting www.MadCapsHockey.com.
