Caps Drop Game 1 of Eastern Conference Final on the Road to Lumberjacks

May 6, 2022 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Madison Capitols News Release

The Madison Capitols trail in a series for the first time this postseason after falling 5-2 to the Muskegon Lumberjacks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final.

Muskegon scored the games first goal tonight, 7:50 into the contest but that lead was short-lived. 1:26 later, Captain Jack Horbach found forward Jack Musa wide open in the slot as he then fired home his fifth goal of the Clark Cup playoffs. 3:58 into the 2nd period, Madison took a 2-1 lead when forward Nick DeSantis was able to tip home a loose puck out front. Horbach and Musa were credited with the helpers.

Unfortunately, that would be all the scoring the Caps would do in Game 1 as the Lumberjacks would go on to score four unanswered to take a 1-0 series lead.

Madison will look to bounce back and even the series tomorrow night in Game 2. Puck drop slated for 7:00 p.m. ET.
