MUSKEGON, Mich. - The Muskegon Lumberjacks' four-game streak has come to an end as the Madison Capitols put up seven goals in a 7-to-3 decision on Friday, Nov. 26 from Mercy Health Arena in downtown Muskegon. Noah Ellis, Phil Tresca, and Jack Williams each scored goals for Muskegon, but it wasn't enough as Madison powered their way to victory in game one of the two-game weekend series.

1st Period

It only took 55 seconds for the Capitols to score their first goal of the game, which came from Reid Pabich to open the scoring. Pabich's fourth goal of the year was assisted by Jack Horbach and Ben Dexheimer to make it a 1-to-0 lead for Madison.

The Lumberjacks would respond at 2:34 of the period from a point shot by Noah Ellis to tie the game 1-to-1. Ellis's first of the season was helped by Tyler Hotson and Jacob Guevin.

However, former Lumberjack Michael Quinn would silence the home crowd with his first career USHL goal to give Madison the 2-to-1 lead. Quinn's goal was assisted by Nick Wallace and Ben Dexheimer at 7:47 of the first period.

Madison would add another, this time from Nick DeSantis at 15:17 of the opening frame, pushing the Capitol lead to 3-to-1. Jake Dunlap and Michael Quinn picked up helpers on the DeSantis goal.

While on the power play, Luke Mittlestadt opened it up to a 4-to-1 lead in favor of Madison at 17:47 of the first period. Mittlestadt's sixth goal of the season was assisted by Ben Dexheimer and Casey Severo.

After 20 minutes of action, the Capitols carried a 4-to-1 lead into the first intermission.

2nd Period

The Capitols would add to their lead with another power play goal, this time from Casey Severo at 8:04 of the middle period. Jack Musa and Nick DeSantis scooped up assists to make it a 5-to-1 game in favor of Madison.

Reid Pabich would notch his second goal of the game at 19:19 of the second period to extend the Madison lead to 6-to-1. Jack Horbach and Jack Musa assisted on the play.

With just five seconds left in the second period, Muskegon's Phil Tresca sniped a one-time slapshot past Capitol goaltender Simon Latkoczy to cut the deficit to 6-to-2, still in favor of Madison. Jack Williams assisted on Tresca's fifth lamplighter of the season.

After two periods of play, the Capitols controlled a 6-to-2 lead into the intermission.

3rd Period

The Lumberjacks would score their third shorthanded goal of the season, courtesy of captain Jack Williams at 11:58 of the third period. Tyler Dunbar picked up the lone assist as Muskegon pushed the deficit to three goals.

But the comeback was not to be, as Madison pulled in front by four goals once again with a power play goal from Ben Dexheimer. Luke Mittlestadt and Nick DeSantis earned assists on Dexheimer's second goal of the season to increase the lead to 7-to-3.

In the end, the Capitols snapped the Muskegon four-game winning streak by a final score of 7-to-3 as the Lumberjacks dropped just their second game in the month of November.
