
Capitols Fall in Season Opener 4-1

The Capitols opened the 2022-23 campaign on Thursday night at the 2022 DICK'S Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic. Madison faced off against Tri-City, the only matchup between the two teams during the regular season.
In the first period, Tri-City got out to a hot start thanks to their power play scoring on both opportunities in the season's opening period. The Storm took the 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Tri-City extended their lead to 4-0 in the second period with both goals coming at even strength.
In the third, the Capitols found themselves on the scoreboard thanks to a power play goal from Quinn Finley. Assists on the Finley goal were awarded to Miko Matikka and Nick Wallace. The Capitols went 1-5 on the man-advantage on Thursday night.
Tri-City skated away with a 4-1 victory from both team's first game of the 2022-23 season. Madison out shot Tri-City in the game by a total of 30-26, including outshooting the Storm 21-12 in the final two periods of the game.
Madison will be back at it again on Friday evening as they are set to take on the Fargo Force. The Force dropped the first game of their season to the Chicago Steel 3-1 on Thursday.
Puck drop of the Capitols against the Force is scheduled for 7:30 pm CT.
