Capitols' D Carver Watson Commits to Michigan Tech
July 14, 2015 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Madison Capitols News Release
Madison, WI- The youngest member of the Capitols' inaugural season roster has reached a college commitment, as defenseman Carver Watson (Appleton, Wis.) announced he will play his college hockey for the Michigan Tech Huskies.
The Huskies' program is a family affair for the Watsons. Carver's oldest brother, Cliff Watson, is entering his junior season as a defenseman for Tech, while older brother Cooper Watson will play his second season in Madison with his Michigan Tech commitment already in his back pocket.
The 17-year-old Carver Watson played much of his first USHL season at age 16, appearing in 58 of the Capitols' 60 games. He scored his first USHL goal in the dying seconds of the third period against Team USA's Under-17 team on Feb. 13, forcing overtime.
Prior to his time with the Capitols, Watson starred for Appleton United High School, as well as Team Wisconsin. In his final season with Appleton United, the defenseman scored 24 points in 23 games.
With his college hockey future set, Watson becomes the 23rd NCAA Division I commit in Capitols history.
