
Capitals Sign Right Wing Joe Motzko

HERSHEY - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the Washington Capitals that right wing Joe Motzko has been signed to a two-year contract. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst and Washington VP/General Manager George McPhee.
Motzko, a member of the 2007 Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks, played in three games for Anaheim during the 2007 postseason, including Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Ottawa Senators. He scored 28 goals in 67 games between Syracuse (AHL) and Portland (AHL) this past season, and also skated in seven games for the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, scoring one goal. Motzko, a product of St. Cloud State University, will get his name on the Stanley Cup.
In his AHL career, Motzko has scored 100 goals in 279 games, and has 11 regular season games of NHL experience. He scored his first NHL goal January 16, 2007 for Columbus against the Chicago Blackhawks. The 27-year old Motzko is a native of Bemidji, Minnesota.
